On page 81, where it says “I went to the University of Toronto to interview Raymond Mar, who is a professor of psychology there.” It should say: “I went to York University in Toronto to interview Raymond Mar, who is a professor of psychology there.” This will be corrected in future editions.
Posted on 25th April 2022. On p149, I say of Nir Eyal’s book ‘Hooked, “the CEO of Microsoft held it aloft and told her staff to read it.” This should say “a senior executive at Microsoft”, not the CEO. Thank you to Nick Howe for pointing out this error.
Posted on 26th July 2022. In chapter six, I have tweaked a few of the sentences relating to Stanford Professor B. J. Fogg. I referred to him as a Mormon; he is in fact a former Mormon, so I’ve cut this description. I wrote that both the founders of Instagram were in his class at Stanford; in fact only one of the founders of Instagram was in his class and the other was not, so I have corrected this. I refer to Nir Eyal as having studied in Professor Fogg’s Persuasive Technology Lab at Stanford, as was widely reported; in fact, Nir was never involved in Fogg’s Lab at Stanford and only attended a retreat at Fogg’s home and sat in on some of his lectures, so I have amended this language as well.
